St. Francis of Assisi ChurchWho We Are (Quotation)

Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis
St. Francis devoted himself to solitude, prayer and service to the poor. He is not just an historical figure but continues to be the guiding spirit for Hospital Sisters health care endeavors. The Sisters compassionate care for the poor, outcast and oppressed is the Franciscan spirit.

The Hospital Sisters are women who have dedicated their lives to and for the love of Christ Jesus, and to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Public vows made to God, through the church and community, are the manifestation of a life of simplicity and service to the sick and poor. Commitment to this life is the expression of the Franciscan spirit.

Community
Hospital Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis As Franciscan women, we are a support to one another in our personal and spiritual journeys. We do this through our community prayer, worship, hospitality and compassionate caring. Our community environment is one in which each person is accepted "as she is" but is encouraged and lovingly challenged to go beyond that…to be all that God wants her to be. A motto from the past says our vocation is "A life to be lived, not a job to be done." What that means to us, as Franciscans, is that we differentiate between a Vocation and an Avocation. A Vocation is "A state in life"…to choose how one will live: married, single or religious. An Avocation is "What we do"… for us it is the expression of a healing ministry.

As Franciscan religious, we strive to live the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi by living simply, loving honestly and humbly serving one another and all of God's people. This is why many of us entered and this is why we stay.
